About this series
Tout moun se moun: everyone is a person. That Haitian saying is the lens for this series, which tells the Haitian Revolution through the people who made it: the enslaved majority of Saint-Domingue, the maroons in the hills, the free people of color, and the cultivators of the South who fought for land along with freedom. Across eleven episodes we move from the plantation machine and the long resistance to Bois-Caïman, the Kingdom of Platons, the people's war for independence, and what they won in 1804. Dr. Robert Fatton opens the set with a short preamble on what the saying means.
